Should juvenile Offenders be tried as adults? This question has become a hot topic in this country. What should be their punishment for the crimes? In my opinion, juveniles who commit serious crimes should not be tried as adults. Not only is trying these teens as adults unjust and unfair,

but also there are other negative effects on juveniles. They’re other alternatives that our society can use to help make a juvenile a better human being. We also need to realize that children are our future, and we are throwing their future away.
There are many negative effects of trying juveniles as adults. One of these effects occurs when juveniles who are tried as adults are released from jail. They tend to re-offend more quickly and commit more crimes. Another reason these juveniles re-offend more quickly is that while they are in jail, these juveniles have no other role models beside the other inmates, who are usually hardened criminals. When juveniles are released, they try to commit more crimes because they have learned a lot of from adult’s criminals.
Another reason juveniles should not be tired as adults because when they are serving time in jail and it will more likely lead to greater conflicts. An example of this was my friend whose brother named javed was a gang member. Javed was sixteen years old and had been tried as on adult on two counts of crimes; each jail sentence was nine months in a security prison. Each time when Javed got out of jail, he returned to the street and was still involved in crimes and gangs. All that time in jail helped him to master were more crimes tricks. If he had been tried as a juvenile, he would have received a light sentence and counseling of some kind to help him get off the street.
The court system of our country needs to treat the juveniles different then the adults because children are our country’s future, and we need to teach them to be better people and make them realize it. All over the world America stands for a place of freedom, a place of peace. No longer will America stand for this if we do not lay down stricter lines for today’s juvenile offenders. The future must also be protected, not put in a jail and ignored.
In conclusion, juveniles should not be tried as a adults because of negative effects on the juveniles can lead to a hardened criminal also they can commit more crimes because when they are in jail they have learned a lot from adult criminals and it can also hurt our future dreams for our country.
